Target Fund Managers makes senior promotion and investor relations hire

James MacKenzie will take on the newly-created role of managing director

Target Fund Managers, the investment manager of the FTSE 250-listed Target Healthcare REIT, has hired Ediston’s Calum Bruce as its head of investor relations.

Chartered surveyor Bruce (pictured) has more than 25 years of experience across real estate investment, fund management and investment relations. Prior to joining Target Fund Managers, he had spent 13 years as director of investment at Ediston, where he was involved in the IPO, growth and sale of the Ediston Property investment company.

Bruce has also worked as a senior investment manager at Scottish Widows and as a surveyor for Edinburgh-based investment agent King Sturge.

Commenting on his appointment, the investor relations head said: “As markets stabilise, there is a sizeable opportunity to connect patient capital with a part of the market offering predictable, long-term income streams and capital appreciation, alongside a very powerful social impact.

“The TFML track record speaks for itself, and I am excited by the opportunity to play an integral role in the next stage of its growth.”

Elsewhere in the business, James MacKenzie has been promoted into the newly-created role of managing director. Having joined the business in 2025, he will be responsible for the operations of Target Fund Managers, reporting to CEO Kenneth MacKenzie.

James MacKenzie has more than 20 years of experience in corporate advisory and relationship management roles. Before joining Target Fund Managers, he had spent more than 15 years at Aegon UK, latterly as general counsel, company secretary and member of its UK executive team. He has also worked as an associate at Scottish-headquartered law firm Shepherd and Wedderburn.

Commenting on both Bruce’s hire and MacKenzie’s promotion, CEO Kenneth MacKenzie said: “Calum is highly qualified and well-respected in the market.
