Amova Asset Management, formerly Nikko Asset Management, has expanded its investment capabilities with a new US small-cap value equity team.

The new team consists of portfolio managers John S. Albert and Kevin A. Finn, who joined Amova AM’s American subsidiary on 1 May 2026. The managers have worked together for over 20 years, since starting at Asset Consulting Group and co-founding Piermont Capital Management in 2005.

Their process relies on systematically evaluating small-cap stocks while using a fundamental overlay to manage more company-specific risks.

Mark E. Stoeckle, Amova AM executive corporate officer and chief investment officer, said the team was “thrilled” with the appointment of Albert and Finn.

“For investors in Japan and around the world looking to diversify their portfolios, John and Kevin’s approach is time-tested to identify idiosyncratic opportunities in the US small-cap space.”

During their tenure at Piermont, their small-cap value strategy had outperformed the benchmark in 15 of 18 years, according to the Amova team.
