Helge Skibeli, managing director and global equity manager at JP Morgan Asset Management, is set to retire after a career spanning more than 40 years, according to an RNS released today (2 September).
Skibeli has been with the JP Morgan team since 1990, having initially joined as a research analyst for European industrials.
He is currently responsible for a range of strategies across the JP Morgan stable, including the JPM Global Growth & Income PLC investment trust, as well as the JPM Global Select equity, JPM Global Dividend, JPM Global Equity Income and JPM Global Focus funds.
In a statement from the JPM Global Growth and Income board, it was clarified that Skibeli will remain in his role as portfolio manager until his retirement in 18 months, at which point his responsibilities will be passed to existing managers Sam Witherow and James Cook.
“The board thanks Helge for his stewardship of the company’s portfolio during the past seven years and looks forward to working with him through the planned transition.
“The board remains confident that the company’s portfolio managers, supported by the JP Morgan Asset Management team, will continue to diligently implement the company’s investment strategy in accordance with its investment objective.”
Over the course of his career, Skibeli has delivered a 719.9% total return for investors, compared to a peer group average of 565%, according to data from FE fundinfo.
Effective 31 March 2027, Skibeli will transition his people role responsibilities to Sam Witherow, who will lead the Global Core PM team.
