Revealed: All the winners of the 2023 PA Wealth Partnership Awards

Rewarding excellence where wealth and asset managers work together for the benefit of end-investors

|

Square Mile Investment Consulting and Research was named Wealth Manager of the Year and Federates Hermes Asset Manager of the Year at the 2023 Portfolio Adviser Wealth Partnership Awards. The latter’s Asia Ex-Japan Equity team also picked up the award for Investment Team of the Year while the ‘mirror’ wealth management accolade, Fund Selection Team of the Year, was won for the third year in a row by Quilter Cheviot.

Now in their fourth year, the Wealth Partnership Awards are designed by Portfolio Adviser to recognise and reward excellence across key elements of the UK’s wealth and asset management businesses – including, crucially, where the two sectors work together in partnership for the benefit of end-investors. This year’s winners, set out in full below, were revealed today at a gala lunch that took place at the top of the City of London’s towering ‘Cheesegrater’ building.

The wealth management side of the awards brought further success for the Square Mile team as they also won the Client Services Team of the Year category while LGT Wealth Management’s Siobhan Archer was named ESG Advocate of the Year, thereby following in the footsteps of colleague and last year’s winner, Phoebe Stone. LGT Wealth Management also won the Contribution to Inclusivity award for its ‘Diversity & Inclusion Lens’, with Schroders’ Resilience Experiment being recognised for its Contribution to Inclusivity

Asset management sector winners meanwhile included Rathbone Unit Trust Management for Distribution Team of the Year and CCLA Investment Management for ESG Advocate of the Year. In two categories that combined the wealth and asset management spaces, Georgia Barham, an assistant investment manager at Tyndall Investment Management was named Individual Rising Star and Storebrand Asset Management won the corresponding award for Business Rising Star.

Deserved recognition

Earlier this year, Portfolio Adviser asked its readers to nominate those individuals, teams, companies and initiatives in the wealth and asset management sectors they believed deserve special recognition over the preceding 12 months. The nominees were then asked to complete a short questionnaire outlining why they thought they themselves deserved to win and the shortlists were created on the strength of these answers.

“The Wealth Partnership Awards would not have been possible without the time, insights and efforts of our great panel of expert judges so our sincere thanks go to all of them,” said Portfolio Adviser editorial director Julian Marr – not for the first time. “And, for the avoidance of any doubt, I should confirm that no judge had any say in any category in which their company or a colleague was up for an award.”

Chaired by Marr, this year’s judging panel comprised: Mike Barrett, consulting director, The Lang Cat; James Budden, director of marketing and distribution, Baillie Gifford; Bella Caridade-Ferreira, chief executive officer, Fundscape; Ian Chimes, head of global distribution, Liontrust Asset Management; Mike Coop, CIO EMEA, Morningstar Investment Management; Lauren Hardy, editor, Portfolio Adviser; Gillian Hepburn, commercial director, Benchmark Capital; Dewi John, head of research, UK & Ireland, Refinitiv Lipper; Chris Jones, proposition director, Dynamic Planner; Natalie Kenway, editor-in-chief, Portfolio Adviser; Mandy Kirby, chief strategist, City Hive; Jake Moeller, senior investment consultant, Square Mile Investment Consulting and Research; Lee Robertson, CEO, Octo Members Group; Emma Saunders, acting head of collectives research, Rathbones; Ben Seager-Scott, head of multi-asset funds, Evelyn Partners; Mark Thomas, head of UK sales, Jupiter Asset Management; Philip Wellington, investment analyst, PortfolioMetrix; and Nick Wood, head of fund research, Quilter Cheviot.
