Brown Advisory has hired a trio of ex-Janus Henderson managers to launch a global sustainable fixed income business.

Chris Diaz, Ryan Myerberg (pictured) and Colby Stilson will develop a range of strategies for the investment manager, including a global sustainable bond fund to be launched later this year, working closely with the existing US-focused sustainable fixed income team.

The incoming hires have a long history together having previously built Janus Capital’s global fixed income business prior to its merger with Henderson Global Investors.

Diaz joins from Janus Henderson where he was co-head of global bonds, while Myerberg transfers from Amundi, having left Janus Henderson in 2019 to become its head of absolute return fixed income. Stilson was most recently managing partner at the Tifin Group, a US fintech company. They each have an average of 21 years of industry experience.

Brown Advisory said the recent hires underscore its commitment to ESG across equity and fixed income to meet growing client demand. Of its $100bn in assets managed for private and institutional investors, more than $16bn is held in sustainable investment mandates.

Commenting on the trio’s reunion at Brown Advisory, Myerberg said: “We are excited to be working together again at an investment organisation where we feel our values and aspirations are aligned—we believe Brown Advisory’s employee-ownership structure and significant existing expertise in sustainable investing, that is embedded in the firm’s DNA, will allow us to develop global, long-term, client-focused solutions with a meaningful and differentiated ESG lens.”
