Royal London Asset Management’s (RLAM) equities head Peter Rutter (pictured) has exited the firm alongside portfolio managers Chris Parr, Will Kenney, James Clarke and Niko de Walden.

The group are expected to set up their own firm.

Rutter joined the firm in 2017 after five years as a global equities director at Waverton Investment Management.

As a result, RLAM has restructured its global equities team with CIO Piers Hillier taking on leadership responsibilities.

He will be supported by head of quant strategies Matt Burgess, co-head of UK equities Richard Marwood and head of sustainable Mike Fox.

Fund Managers Bixuan Xu and George Crowdy, and assistant fund manager Simon Davies will also support the team.

Manager lineup changes

As part of the changes, Burgess has taken over as lead manager on the Royal London Global Equity Enhanced fund, while he will co-lead with  Davies on the firm’s US Equity and US Growth offerings.

Royal London Global Equity Income will be managed by Marwood alongside Hillier, supported by Matt Burgess.

Finally, Royal London Global Equity Transitions will be managed by Xu, assisted by George Crowdy.

RLAM chief executive Hans Georgeson said: “We remain committed to offering a first class equity capability and will continue to invest in the team. Piers brings huge experience to the leadership of our global equities capability, supported by an extremely talented team that also bring many years of expertise in equity markets.”
