Close Brothers Asset Management (CBAM) has appointed Simon Long (pictured) as an investment director.

Based in the firm’s recently opened Birmingham office, Long will manage client relationships across the Midlands while providing discretionary investment management services.

He arrives after a decade-long stint at Investec Wealth & Investment, where he was most recently a senior investment director. Long started his career at Brewin Dolphin before moving to Williams de Broe.

The appointment is the latest in a recruitment spree for CBAM as it seeks to expand its regional presence. Last month, the firm announced the hire of investment directors John Hair and Charles Insley from Abrdn.

Giles Marshall, head of bespoke, said: “Simon’s appointment demonstrates CBAM’s growing strength in the Midlands following the opening of our new office in Birmingham, and the wider expansion of our regional presence across the UK while building on the exceptional expertise and services we can offer to our clients.

“We are thrilled to welcome Simon to the team, and no doubt believe that CBAM will benefit substantially from his extensive knowledge and valuable industry experience.”
