Close Brothers Asset Management (CBAM) has appointed John Hair (pictured) and Charles Insley as investment directors.

Based in London, Hair arrives at the firm having been CIO of Abrdn’s private client business since 2016. He started his career at Henderson prior to moving to Newton IM in 2002, where he managed portfolios before becoming head of investments for private clients. He joined Abrdn in 2013 as head of investments.

Insley has been Abrdn’s head of international private clients since 2015, after arriving as private client head two years earlier.

Like Hair, Insley also had a spell at Newton, where he held a variety of roles including investment manager during his 13-year stay.

Giles Marshall, head of bespoke at CBAM, said: “John and Charles’ appointments show CBAM’s continued success in attracting top talent in our industry and bring with them wealth of knowledge and experience. I’m delighted to welcome John and Charles to CBAM, and I look forward to working with them both over the coming years.”
