Federated Hermes has hired Carlos Gross to its private credit team as head of European credit opportunities.

In the newly-created role, Gross (pictured) will be responsible for leading private credit opportunities strategies in Europe, and expanding the firm’s offering.

He brings more than 15 years of experience in European credit markets to the firm, and joins from Benefit Street Partners, formerly known as Alcentra.

Earlier in his career, he held roles at Stellex Capital Management, Evercore and Bank of America Merrill Lynch’s Financial Institutions Group.

Gross will be based in London and report to Patrick Marshall, CIO and head of private credit.

Marshall said: “We are pleased to welcome Carlos, who brings an impressive skill set in the credit opportunities area.

“His arrival comes at a time when we are strengthening our private credit platform amid a rapidly evolving asset class, where investors are placing increased emphasis on selectivity, disciplined underwriting and transparency.”

Gross added: “I’m delighted to join Federated Hermes’ established private credit team. This is an exciting opportunity to help build out the platform’s capabilities around credit opportunities and to work alongside a team recognised for its expertise across European private credit.

“I look forward to contributing my experience to support our clients’ investment objectives and the continued growth of the platform, where our focus remains on protecting client capital and identifying compelling risk-adjusted opportunities.”
