Columbia Threadneedle Investments has hired Gianluca Di Mascio as portfolio manager and Karan Bhanot as associate portfolio manager, following the growth of its active ETF business.
The duo will work within Columbia Threadneedle’s Research Enhanced Strategies team, based in London. They will report to Chris Lo, the firm’s head of research enhanced strategies and head of active ETFs, who is based in Boston.
Di Mascio has 12 years of experience in the industry, having previously spent five years at Vanguard – latterly as an equity trader and portfolio manager. Prior to this, he has held roles at the London Stock Exchange Group, Borsa Italiana and KPMG.

Bhanot joins Columbia Threadneedle from L&G Asset Management, where he spent four of his seven years as a quantitative strategist across the firm’s index and ETF products. Prior to this, he served as an intern at Euronext, focusing on ETFs and funds.
In the duo’s new respective roles, they will help to support the growth and development of Columbia Threadneedle’s active ETF suite of products for UK and European investors.
