Liontrust Asset Management has poached former Ninety One equity analyst Frederick Kerr-Smiley as the new deputy for the £300m Liontrust Global Innovation team, joining existing managers Storm Uru and Clare Pleydell-Bouverie.

Kerr-Smiley spent almost 12 years at Ninety One, having joined as a summer intern in 2014, before being appointed as trainee analyst and eventually equity analyst, responsible for idea generation and research, primarily on the quality team.

The fund aims to deliver long-term capital growth by investing in “high-quality innovative companies” around the world.

This approach has generally paid off over the medium to long term, with the fund delivering a 242.2% total return to investors over the past 10 years, a top-quartile return in the IA Global sector. By contrast, the MSCI ACWI was up 215.9% in sterling terms over this period.
