Kingfisher, the owner of leading DIY brands such as B&Q, Screwfix and Castorama, will unveil its full-year results on Tuesday.

Looking ahead to the results, AJ Bell investment director Russ Mould, head of financial analysis Danni Hewson, and investment analyst Dan Coatsworth said: “The FTSE 350 Retailers section has slumped to a twelve-month low, bogged down by worries over whether weak consumer confidence and dodgy weather will hit the top line and that increased costs from national insurance contributions, wages, utilities and raw materials could further dent the bottom line.

“Nor are Kingfisher’s concerns about costs limited to the UK. Chief executive Thierry Garnier has quantified the annualised hit from salaries and national insurance contributions in the UK at £31 million, with £14 million in extra costs in France on top, thanks to payroll taxes and a postponement in the abolition of the CVAE sales tax. Management will look for efficiencies to mitigate these costs, but Mr Garnier expects that Kingfisher will struggle to offset them all in the year to January 2026.”

  • Bellway first-half results

Housebuilder Bellway will also release results on Tuesday for the company’s first half.

AJ Bell’s Mould, Hewson and Coatsworth said that as Bellway’s February trading update was detailed, surprises aren’t expected in Tuesday’s results.

“More interest could therefore lie with any guidance given for the whole year to June 2025 and shareholders and analysts will watch out for comments on completions and average selling prices, where chief executive Jason Honeyman currently expects 8,500 home sales at an average of £310,000 apiece for the year to the end of June.”

Analysts will also focus on how input costs shape an anticipated underlying operating margin of 11% for the year, any further cladding remediation and tall building provisions, and the forward order book, the AJ Bell trio added.

Meanwhile, analysts may also look out for comments on the UK government’s plans to ease planning regulations and increase housing stock.
