Walker Crip’s investment arm has poached one of the co-founders of an investment boutique to bolster its York-based investment team.

Rachel Blythe (pictured) joins the team from Progeny Asset Management, a financial advice and legal solutions firm she helped co-found in 2016. At Progeny she worked as an investment manager where she ran a number of portfolios, including an award-winning AIM mandate.

Prior to setting up Progeny she worked for Redmayne Bentley working across its corporate actions, ISAs, compliance and investment teams.

She is a holder of the CISI Investment Advice Diploma and recently completed her Chartered Wealth Manager qualifications.

Walker Crips Investment Management investment director Wesley Coultas said: “We welcome Rachel to the team and look forward to the key role she will play in developing our portfolio offerings and supporting our growth. Her experience, knowledge and commitment to strong client relationships will bolster our high quality service and is a valuable addition to the business.”

Walker Crips’ investment arm has come under pressure in the last year, unveiling a bleak profit warning and the departure of top boss Mark Rushton who was tasked with transforming the business.

Its final results for the year ended 31 March 2019 revealed further woes as profits halved from £924,000 to £489,000 and zero growth in assets under management which remained stuck at £5.0bn.
