Game (pictured) will work alongside Fraser Mackersie in managing the £48.5m Unicorn UK Growth fund, while Ormiston will assist Chris Hutchison, the group’s director and senior fund manager, with the £45.5m Unicorn Outstanding British Companies fund.

Unicorn, an independently-owned fund business, specialising in small and mid-cap investments, currently looks after over £1.2bn of client assets.

Game and Ormiston have both been with Unicorn’s investment team since joining the firm in 2014 and have become increasingly involved in the investment process recently.

The duo have also worked with Hutchison on managing and developing an AIM inheritance tax portfolio service, which they will continue alongside their new roles, the firm has said.

On the appointments, Hutchison commented: “Unicorn has a successful track record of nurturing and developing home grown talent. The promotion of Alex and Max is in recognition of their meaningful contribution to the success of Unicorn over the past four years.”
