Hicks, who started his second stint at Fidelity in May 2003 and was previously head of UK retail sales, is taking a break from the industry, a spokeswoman at Fidelity confirmed.
William Russell will take over as acting head of UK equity product management until a permanent replacement is found. Hicks had previously spent five years at Fidelity during an investment industry career that started in 1986 and also took him to Axa and then Framlington.
Separately, David White has been named head of Fidelity FundsNetwork, having most recently been head of UK retail marketing. Pete Burtonshaw, head of platform development, will oversee a “substantially increased investment programme” in Fidelity’s platform business.
Head of platform sales Julian Webb, meanwhile, is relinquishing that role in order to become head of Fidelity’s newly-formed DC and Workplace Saving Business.
“Workplace investing is quite simply going to change the way people save in this country,” said Gary Shaughnessy, UK managing director at Fidelity International.
“The shift towards wanting to save or buy your ISA through your employer is gathering pace and as one of the leading ISA and occupational pension providers in the UK, we want to be at the forefront of this revolution.”
