The fund will be benchmarked against the Markit iBoxx Sterling Non-Gilts Index and will invest predominantly in fixed income securities. The fund will use a stratified sampling method rather than full replication. More information as to what the fund will invest in will be available in due course.

Rachid Semaoune, who has been at UBS since 2011, heads the management team, which also includes Matthias Dettwiler, managing director and head of fixed income and currencies.

UBS said the launch comes following increased client demand for competitively priced and well managed passive funds as the market continues to adapt to the outcomes of RDR. It is its first passive fixed income fund for the UK wholesale market.
