CQS Natural Resources Growth and Income will be rebranded the City Natural Resources Growth and Income trust, as its takeover by Tufton Investment Management was completed today (14 September 2026).
The name change is expected to come into effect around 14 September 2026, according to the firm.
First announced in May this year, the takeover will reunite the trust with its previous portfolio managers Keith Watson and Robert Crayfourd, who joined Tufton earlier this month.
The trust will continue to focus on global mining, energy and precious metals.
Christopher Casey, chair of the trust, said: “The combination of appointing Tufton as investment manager and the continued involvement of Keith and Robert ensures continuity for the portfolio and preserves our established and effective investment strategy.
“Keith and Rob have a strong track record of performance, and we look forward to continuing to work with them to create further value for shareholders.”
In the five years up to April 2026 (the managers originally departed the trust in March 2026), the trust was up 208.6% in NAV total return terms.
Nicolas Tirogalas, Tufton’s CEO, added: “Keith and Rob have built enviable track records in natural resources investing.
“Their reputation and skills will dovetail with the institutional-grade investment management skills we have built at Tufton over four decades in maritime, energy and real assets through vehicles such as SHIP.”
