Square Mile nabs Jake Moeller from Lipper

Former head of UK and Ireland research joins rival following the departure of Victoria Hasler

Square Mile has appointed Jake Moeller as a senior investment consultant, Portfolio Adviser can reveal. 

Moeller (pictured), has left his post as head of UK and Ireland research for Lipper, the fund ratings agency originally owned by Thomson Reuters and now Refinitiv, after more than six years. 

His appointment follows the departure of Square Mile’s director of research and consulting Victoria Hasler at the end of April.

Moeller has over 20 years’ experience in the industry, having also worked as head of investment research at Alico, the life subsidiary of AIG, and an investment research manager for Commonwealth Bank of AustraliaTowry and Lloyds Banking Group. 

At Lipper he was responsible for mutual fund analysis across all major asset classes, prepping topical research for Lipper clients and overseeing fund ratings and classifications. In addition he also organised and hosted investment conferences for the firm and was a trustee director of its pension plan. 

In his new role, which starts today, Moeller will focus on fund research relating to ESG and responsible investing and will assist head of consulting Diane Earnshaw in managing the firm’s consulting output and maintaining relationships with a number of investment consulting clients.  

He will also serve as the research and consulting group’s lead media spokesperson. 

Square Mile managing director Richard Romer Lee said Moeller would be “an excellent addition to our team”, highlighting his “deep experience of fund analysis, portfolio construction and client consulting spanning two decades”.
