Square Mile Investment Consulting and Research has appointed Louise Babin as its new senior investment research analyst, where she will specialise in fixed income strategies.
Babin previously spent three years at Morningstar before leaving in 2021, where she also focussed on the analysis of fixed income, global macro and alternative and absolute return investing.
John Monaghan, research director at Square Mile, said Babin’s “extremely credible” knowledge of the asset class was a valuable quality and her experience advising clients gave her a unique blend of skills.
Before Morningstar, Babin spent a year at Aviva Investors and four years at Charles Stanley, which involved her making portfolio recommendations to both multi-manager clients and internal investment teams.

Monaghan added: “Her experience of advising on portfolio management speaks to her understanding of how differing funds can be blended to achieve optimal investment outcomes, something which chimes with Square Mile’s focus on helping investors be better informed.
“This is a rare combination of skillsets and Louise will be an excellent complement to our talented team.”
Babin expressed her enthusiasm for joining the firm, stating: “Square Mile’s team is widely seen as a market leader in fund analysis, and the ratings awarded to those strategies in which they have a strong conviction are considered a hallmark of quality.
“The importance of these independent, qualitative assessments cannot be underestimated as a tool for advisers looking to identify the most appropriate strategies for their clients.”
