Sanlam adds portfolio manager to Brighton office as it finalises Thesis integration

Sanlam has added another portfolio manager to its Brighton team at a time of change for the office as it beds down its acquisition of Thesis Asset Management and a senior member retires.

Lydia MacDonald joins the wealth manager’s south coast team from Charles Stanley. She has over 35 years’ experience, including a decade at Brewin Dolphin and roles at Barclays Wealth, ANZ Grindlays Private Bank and Gerrard.

At Sanlam she will work closely with senior portfolio manager Paul Morley and portfolio assistant Jo Jedracha, managing portfolios for high net worth individuals and families, as well as ISAs, offshore bonds, trusts, charities and pensions.

Head of Sanlam Chichester and Brighton James Nield said MacDonald joins the office during “a time of transition”.

“The integration of the four Thesis/Sanlam Private Wealth South offices into Sanlam is nearing its completion and the end of April will see the retirement of the long-standing head of the Brighton office – Tony Gammon,” he said.

Thesis was one of several businesses snapped up by Sanlam last year and added £4.2bn to its discretionary assets under management.

Gammon, who has headed the Brighton office since the acquisition, has been with Thesis since 1980.

Following his retirement Macdonald will take over a portion of his client book and will work on develop Sanlam’s profile and client base in the region, he said.

MacDonald is a chartered fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments as well as a chartered wealth manager.
