The Dublin-domiciled Polen Capital Focus Global Growth Irish UCITS Fund was previously available to US investors, and from 11 March is now open to the UK and European markets.
Manager Julian Pick targets both US and internationally-based companies using an unconstrained fundamentals-driven active approach on a five-year-plus view.
With the portfolio consisting of around 30 holdings, Pick seeks to achieve a ‘margin of safety’ – the delivery of sustainable long-term returns while riding out market volatility via companies that a largely resistant to business cycles.
The medium-risk fund carries an ongoing annual fee of 1.35%. There is also a 3% exit levied on shareholding durations of less than 60 days.
Stan C. Moss, Polen CEO, outlined the rationale behind opening the fund to UK and European investors.
“Globalising portfolios and strategies is a secular trend well underway in the investment industry,” he expanded. “Over the next five years, asset flows into the US domestic equities market are projected to be stagnant or even decline, while asset flows outside the US are expected to be positive.
“Furthermore, where a company is domiciled is becoming less relevant for global businesses. Studies indicate that global equities will benefit from a long-term trend away from home-biased portfolios as overseas institutions abandon their preference for home-country investments.”
