Goldbridge Capital Partners will focus on opportunities in the European distressed, high yield and global credit markets and is led by Gina Germano and Dipankar Shewaram.

The company is awaiting FSA authorisation, which is expected by the end of the year, and with the financial backing of Northill will be able to deploy up to $100m of equity and seed capital from day one.

Goldbridge said it will seek to profit from the "opportunity presented by the refinancing glut".

It added the underrepresentation of institutional investors in the European sub-investment grade credit market compared to in the US, combined with the ongoing regulatory and economic shifts, has created an unprecedented opportunity.

The firm plans to launch long-only and long short funds with a focus on both sub-investment and investment grade credit.

Germano has almost 20 years of experience in European high yield and distressed investing and was previously employed at BlueBay Asset Management, Lazard and Morgan Stanley.

Her co-manager Dipankar also moved from BlueBay Asset Management and has over 14 years of experience in the sector.

Ownership of the asset manager is split equally between Northill and the founding partners.

Germano said: "We established Goldbrige with a view that the ongoing development of Europe’s credit markets will produce a protracted period of inefficiency and a rare opportunity for investors.

Jon Little, partner of Northhill, said: "This is our largest investment to date as part of our strategy to build a diversified portfolio of asset management businesses to create long-term value."
