Steedman, who left Aberdeen in September after 10 years with the firm after the completion of the acquisition with Scottish Widows Investment Partnership, will be responsible for directing Matthews Asia’s business development and client service activities in the UK and select European markets, the firm said on Monday.
Steedman will report to Jonathan Schuman, head of global business development at Matthews Asia, the group said adding, that the hire marks an important step in the continued build-out of the firm’s global operations.
Schuman said: “Neil’s appointment reflects Matthews Asia’s strategic commitment to provide distinctive Asian investment strategies and highquality service to our partners and investors across the U.K. and Europe.
“The expansion of our local presence in Europe reflects the long-term importance that we place on providing quality products and service to our clients,” he added.
Steedman was replaced at Aberdeen by Nick Thiem, who joined from SWIP.
