Headed by Robert Barnard-Smith, the team manages £20bn in credit strategies. The assets include Legal & General Fixed Interest trust, Legal & General Managed Monthly Income trust and Legal & General Sterling Income fund
The assets have been managed by Richard Hodges since January 2014, when Michel Canoy left as manager of the three fixed income funds. Since then, Hodges has also quit LGIM opening up the position which Benstead now fills.
Benstead joins LGIM on 7 July from AXA Investment Managers where he was head of UK credit. Prior to this he was head of syndicate and a managing director at Royal Bank of Canada. He brings with him 20 years of experience in investment banking.
“The quality and experience of our investment professionals are key factors in our on-going success at LGIM. Mark brings vast high level experience of the credit markets,” Barnard-Smith commented.
