Arriving from Coutts & Co, where he filled the same berth within the group’s ultra-high-net-worth private client business, McGlashan will be responsible for the finance, marketing, operations, compliance and systems areas of the business.
Daniel Freedman, London & Capital MD said that the McGlashan’s appointment would be extremely valuable in “shaping the growth strategy of the business”.
“In comparison to much of the industry, we have sought to retain a compact group of clients, to ensure we provide each client with an experienced and highly personal level of service. The appointment of Guy enables us to continue in this effort, creating capacity for many of our Partners to focus solely on managing the affairs of our clients.”
According to McGalshan, until his appointment, the operational management duties had been shared by the co-founders Friedman and Richard Leigh, but as the firm has grown so it has become necessary to create a separate role.
“Bringing me on allows them to get back to managing clients,” he said.
He added: “There is no doubt that the increased regulatory burden has made the day to day running of a wealth manager a more complex and time consuming endeavour.”
