Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM) has promoted Ben Cherrington, head of strategic partnerships, to become its new head of UK wholesale.
Cherrington (pictured), who will adopt the new role this month, has worked at LGIM since 2018. Starting as key account manager, he became head of strategic partnerships in 2020.
Prior to this, Cherrington spent eight-and-a-half years at M&G Investments, latterly as head of intermediary channels, APAC. He has also held roles at New Star Asset Management and Skandia.

The promotion comes following the announcement that current head of UK wholesale distribution, James Crossley, will join Rathbones as head of asset management distribution in September.
A spokesperson from LGIM said Cherrington’s promotion is “a great reflection of the depth and breadth of internal talent within LGIM’s distribution team”.
They added: “Ben brings a wealth of experience to the role from his time at M&G and Skandia, working with a significant range of key intermediary partners across the industry and internationally. Having joined LGIM in 2018, he has been central to managing our strategic relationships with rating agencies, large D2C and adviser platforms.
“We can also confirm that James Crossley will leave the business to join Rathbones, after six years at Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM). We would like to thank James for his significant contribution and wish him every success in the future.”
