Lazard Asset Management has launched the Lazard Europe ex-UK Equity Advantage fund, a UCITS vehicle managed using a quant-based approach.

The fund, which will expand investors’ access to the firm’s Equity Advantage Platform, will be managed using a team-based approach.

Lazard’s Equity Advantage team will combine bottom-up stock selection with a quantitatively-driven investment framework, which aims to maintain a balanced style exposure and to avoid “unintentional macroeconomic exposures”, the firm said.

Lazard’s Equity Advantage team, which has been at the firm since 2007, is headed up by Paul Moghtader and oversees a total of $50.9bn in assets. The latest European fund will sit alongside Lazard’s Global Equity Advantage and Emerging Markets Equity Advantage portfolios.

Commenting on the launch, Tony Maddock (pictured), head of UK third party distribution at Lazard Asset Management, said: “We believe consistent alpha delivered with discipline contributes most to a positive client experience.

“For portfolio builders and model portfolio service providers, our Equity Advantage funds are designed to target three outcomes: consistency of relative returns, controlled risk, and a predictable style profile. By design, we believe they can serve as a core equity building block inside an investment portfolio.”
