Effective immediately, the appointment will see Euan Weir support Kames’ head of equities Stephen Adams in targeting investment opportunities across Asian markets.
Funds which Weir will assist on include the Global Equity and Global Equity Income vehicles.
“Weir has extensive experience and a proven track record for research, gained on the sell side for Asian equities,” said Adams. “This knowledge and experience will further strengthen our expertise in this space and will be a hugely beneficial addition to our global equity capabilities.”
Weir joins from an Asian equities directorial role with HSBC, prior to which he was head of Asian research marketing at Merrill Lynch.
Kames said that the appointment is part of its ongoing development of its equity capabilities across the global spectrum.
The push has already seen additions to the firm’s UK and European roster and expansion of its UK fund offering.
