He steps up from assistant manager to take over from Richard Curling, who has managed the fund since March 2006.

Curling stays with the firm, continuing to manage the Jupiter Fund of Investment Trusts and institutional assets and co-manage the Jupiter Primadona Growth Trust PLC and Jupiter Monthly Income Fund.

Zimmerman first joined Jupiter in 2011 as an analyst in the UK equities team, and returned to the company in October last year following a year as an analyst at Rockefeller & Co. in New York.

“Following the appointment of Steve Davies as sole manager of the Jupiter UK Growth Fund earlier this year, James’s promotion is a further illustration of our strategy to nurture internal talent by developing fund managers from within our existing investment team,” said Stephen Pearson, head of investments.

“James has worked closely with Richard on the Jupiter UK Smaller Companies portfolio since his return, and we see his new appointment as a natural step which recognises his talent for investment, and allows Richard to focus on the other portfolios under his management,” he added.
