Ingenious Asset Management has completed its acquisition of Thurleigh Investment Managers and its £300 million of onshore and offshore assets.

The two companies have now successfully combined and are based in London, and will manage £1.7bn in discretionary private client assets and platform-based model portfolios

Chief executive at Ingenious, Guy Bowles, said: “With the deal complete, I now look forward to focusing on delivering the best possible services to clients, strengthened by our expanded knowledge and expertise.”

David Rosier, co-founder of Thurleigh, added: “Our clients have commented favourably upon the increased resources to which we have access.”

Last week, Ingenious Media sent out letters to 1300 investors into its tax-saving film investment scheme, warning it was likely they would be asked to pay back all tax they have saved, with bills possibly being sent out by the end of the month.

It comes after HM Revenue & Customs was granted new retrospective powers to force the payment of contentious tax resulting from investment schemes over the last 10 years.

The body can demand outstanding money before a case is settled, leaving taxpayers to appeal their innocence after they have paid.
