Fellingham has been responsible for overseeing much of the integration of the Ignis business into SLI and, the firm said, having successfully met his objectives, he has decided the time is right to move on.
The move is also linked to the appointment of Shayne Dunlap and Richard Marshall to the Absolute Return Government Bond Fund (ARGBF) team. The pair join from Mizuho Corporate Bank in September.
Since October 2014 Fellingham has been lead manager, along with Jonathan Gibbs and Adam Skerry, of the Ignis Absolute Return Government Bond Fund, a role he took over with the departure of Russ Oxley and his team.
As part of the ongoing integration, the fund will move into the existing multi-asset investing and macro team structure, which is headed by Guy Stern the firm said, and will from September have Dunlap and Gibbs as the named managers.
According to a statement from the firm, both Dunlap and Marshall “bring considerable expertise and experience in managing liquid global government bonds and currencies on an absolute return basis”.
Rod Paris, SLI CIO said: “The Absolute Return Government Bond Fund remains an important extension to our macro franchise and the delivery of such uncorrelated alpha strategies. ARGBF is a key focus for us going forward. Shayne and Richard will be a great addition to the team as we broaden our investment capabilities for our clients.”
