Hargreaves Lansdown veteran Lee Gardhouse to leave at the end of June

Following the appointment of Vaughan as CIO

Hargreaves Lansdown veteran Lee Gardhouse will leave the firm to “pursue new challenges” following the appointment of former Brown Shipley investment head Toby Vaughan as chief investment officer.

Gardhouse leaves after 28 years at Hargreaves Lansdown. Having joined in 1995, he became investment director in 2006, taking charge of the firm’s multi-manager funds and portfolio management service. He was made the firm’s CIO in 2016.

Hargreaves made no formal statement regarding his departure, adding only that he will leave at the end of June to allow for a smooth handover to Vaughan.

Vaughan joined on 31 May, and has been made responsible for Hargreaves Lansdown’s £8.6bn fund management business.

The change is one of several recently in the firm’s senior ranks, with Dan Olley set to replace outgoing CEO Chris Hill, and Ruchir Rodrigues joining as chief client and commercial officer in November.
