The chair of Hargreaves Lansdown Deanna Oppenheimer (pictured) is reportedly due to step down.

Sky News reported that the platform had begun working with head hunters in the search for a successor.

Oppenheimer took up the role in 2018.

A spokesperson for the firm told Portfolio Adviser: “Recognising that the AGM on 8 December 2023 will be her sixth as chair of the board, and with the CEO transition successfully underway, aligned with good governance and succession planning practices, the board has commenced an exercise to determine the attributes of any successor chair candidates.

“No decisions have been taken at this time. Further updates will be provided as and when it is appropriate to do so.”

In October, founder of the investment platform Peter Hargreaves criticised Oppenheimer over the firm’s performance under her watch, saying she has “presided over a disaster”.

The news comes weeks before incoming chief executive Dan Olley takes up his role on 7 August, replacing Chris Hill.

Earlier in July, Hargreaves Lansdown appointed Michael Morley to its board as a non-executive director.

He will take up his seat in the investment platform’s boardroom from 1 August.
