Asset manager GQG Partners has added Ardevora’s John Ormesher to its London team as UK director, wholesale.

Ormesher has worked in the industry since graduating from University of Nottingham in 2011. In his 12 years, Ormesher worked at Aberdeen Standard Investments, BlueMountain Capital Management, and, most recently, Ardevora Asset Management, leading distribution for the UK Wholesale market for just under four years.

“GQG has a very interesting backstory, and its continued growth is a testament to the quality of the organisation. I am excited to join and discuss with investors GQG’s current and future suite of genuinely active funds,” Ormesher said.

GQG was created in 2016 by Rajiv Jain, and by the end of 2022 had 153 employees and $90bn (£73.98bn) in assets, according to a report by Gregg Wolper of Morningstar.

Ormesher will work under head of wholesale (UK and Ireland) Daniel Lee, who began with GQG in 2019. GQG also expanded their London offices this time last year with the hire of Harry Nolan to work as director, wholesale.

“John’s work ethic, market knowledge, and attention to detail, coupled with his experience in an equity boutique environment, mean that he will be an excellent cultural fit at GQG,” Lee said.

“With his help, we hope to make continued progress with key fund selectors and increase our client coverage throughout the UK market.”
