Gemcorp Capital has appointed Mariya Gancheva as chief strategist and portfolio manager for their Emerging Markets Distressed and Special Situations Credit fund.
Gancheva’s role will centre on discovering mispriced risk across emerging market public credit, including sovereign and corporate bonds, with a focus on distressed and special situations.

She will lead the research process behind the strategy, combining top-down macro and sovereign analysis with investigation into public policy, economic fundamentals, and financing dynamics.
The new role follows Gancheva’s extensive experience across emerging market credit investing and strategy, having headed Morgan Stanley’s Emerging Market Distressed Credit fund and HSBC’s Emerging Market Credit Trading strategy.
Gancheva said: “The best opportunities in emerging markets credit are often the ones the market has written off.
“Finding them takes patient research, local insight, and a willingness to look past consensus. Capturing them takes a firm that can move quickly and be decisive.”
