Gam has bolstered its Japanese equities team, appointing Goro Takahashi (pictured) as an investment director. He will be based in the company’s Tokyo office and will co-manage the Gam Japan Equity and Japan Leaders strategies.

Takahashi has nearly two decades of experience in the industry, having most recently been a senior research analyst at Neuberger Berman, where he focused largely on the auto and capital goods sectors. At the firm, he was responsible for the portfolio management of several institutional funds and was also involved in engagement activities.

He has also been an investment director at Abrdn, and spent eight years as an equity analyst at Fidelity Investments.

Having taken up the role with Gam on 1 November, he now reports to Ernst Glanzmann, the Japanese equity team leader.

David Dowsett, global head of investments at Gam, said: “I am delighted we have been able to appoint such a highly experienced Japan equities investment director to join our team. I am convinced that, with Goro on board, we can continue to build on the success of this investment strategy and offer a highly competent service to our clients.”

Takahashi added: “I am thrilled to join Gam’s Japanese equity team. The firm has a strong reputation for managing this asset class and I look forward to continuing to build it further. Gam has a broadly-based international team, and I am excited to be part of it.”
