Beesley, the former head of global equities at Henderson, will work with all the GAM equity teams as they strive to optimise performance and risk management.
Bringing more than 19 years’ investment experience, he starts on 6 March and will be based in London, reporting to group chief executive Alexander Friedman.
Prior to Henderson, where he worked for five years, Beesley held a number of global equity portfolio management roles at Trinity Steel Asset Management, JPMorgan Asset Management and Mercury Asset Management/Merrill Lynch Investment Managers.
Friedman said the appointment would add “great value” to GAM’s differentiated equity propositions and strengthen its equity capability.
GAM allows its equity managers to invest unconstrained by benchmarks or a fixed house style. Its fund range encompasses value, growth, growth-at-a-reasonable-price, income contrarian and quality styles.
