As well as his role as a portfolio manager, Bateman will also lead the current team of existing unfettered portfolio managers that includes Steve Gibson, Eugene Phililithis and Ayesha Akbar. He will also run the manager selection process for global equity products within the investment solutions group (ISG).
ISG includes Bateman’s manager selection team as well as tactical and strategic asset allocation tams responsible for £45bn in assets under management.
He will join Fidelity in January, from Barclays Wealth where he is vice-president, multi-manager and fund research, responsible for five multi-manager funds with £2.3bn of assets under management. Bateman is also the fund researcher for a further 40 third-party funds.
He has also held roles in multi-manager portfolio management and research at Northern Trust and Investment Manager Selection.
