The adjustments will affect management across four funds targeting the UK, European and Japanese equities markets.

Louise Nash, manager of the M&G Smaller Companies Fund, has left the firm and been replaced by Garfield Kiff.

Effective immediately, the shift sees Kiff take on the running of the fund alongside his responsibilities as deputy manager of the M&G UK Growth Fund.

Meanwhile, M&G is bringing management of both its Japan and Japan Smaller Companies vehicles back in-house, along with fund manager Johan Du Preez.

Subject to regulatory approval, Du Preez will re-join the firm in July, retaining the investment approach employed by the fund’s former managers while outsourced to Eastspring Investments.

M&G has also amended its European offering, with Mike Oliveros taking up a co-manager berth on its European Smaller Companies fund from 1 July.

Oliveros will work alongside current manager Charles Anniss, while maintaining his responsibilities as deputy manager on M&G’s Global Leaders Fund.

“I am confident these appointments put the equities team on a firm footing to produce the returns our clients expect of us,” said Graham Mason, head of equities, retail fixed interest and multi-asset.

“I am particularly pleased to welcome back Johan Du Preez who, in addition to his portfolio management responsibilities, will provide excellent support to the wider equities team.”
