Financial planning firm Dynamic Planner has appointed Michael Whitfield as chair, following a significant investment from private equity firm FPE Capital in the summer.

Whitfield founded Thomson Online Benefits in 2000, having left his role as managing director of Alexander Forbes Financial Services. He was CEO of Thompson for nearly 17 years, leaving in 2018 after spending his last few months there as chief culture architect.

He has held numerous directorships during his four-decade career in the industry and is currently working with several companies, including learning experience platform HowNow, employee engagement company Reward Gateway, and recruiter Tempo UK.

He is also chairman at Pink Investment Club, Hundo Careers, Velocity Capital Advisors, and financial wellbeing platform Nudge Global.

Dynamic Planner CEO Ben Goss (pictured), said: “We warmly welcome Michael as our new chair. He has world-class experience of scaling a UK fintech business internationally and understands the importance of culture and client focus in a successful business. I and the team look forward to working with him.”

On his Linkedin page, Whitfield said: “I am delighted to be joining Dynamic Planner as their chairman following FPE’s recent investment. Having known Ben Goss for many years, I have for many years admired him and his team, and long thought that DP is head and shoulders above all others in helping individuals, advisers and asset managers understand and manage suitable portfolios through engaging financial plans.”

Goss added: “I would like to thank Neil Brown, our previous chair for his chairmanship, advice and support over the years.”
