Close Brothers Asset Management (CBAM) has hired David Wilson (pictured) as business development director for Scotland, Northern Ireland, and the northeast of England.

Based in Edinburgh, Wilson (pictured) will be responsible for managing client relationships across the regions, as well as promoting the firm’s full investment proposition.

He joins from Triple Point Investment Management, where he held the similar role of business development manager. He was also a platform consultant, then a platform relationship manager, at Abrdn between 2014 and 2018. In all, his career in financial services spans 23 years.

Head of investment business development Darren Saddler said that the appointment marks “yet another step forward” in the development of the firm’s regional presence, and demonstrates its  commitment to the intermediary market. He added: “David brings valuable industry experience, which will help support our ongoing growth strategy. We are delighted to welcome him to the team and are confident that CBAM will benefit from David’s extensive expertise.”

The asset manager appointed Eddy Reynolds as CEO in March, and has since placed a strong focus on developing its presence across the country. In June, the firm added a managing director, three investment directors, and an investment manager in the southeast of England, before hiring two more managing directors to cover the north, the Midlands, and the southwest.

The firm has 14 offices across the UK, and managed £15.3bn of assets as of 31 July 2022.
