Candriam has repositioned its Candriam Bonds Total Return fund into the Candriam Bonds Global Alpha fund.

This reflects the evolution of the fund into a more flexible alternative global fixed-income mandate, combining long and short positions in global interest rate and sovereign credit markets as well as relative value strategies.

It will seek to outperform the benchmark (the Euro Short Term Rate Capitalized), with an average volatility target of below 5% in normal market conditions.

The current investment team on the fund will remain unchanged; Jamie Niven will continue to be the lead manager on the fund, supported by Yohanne Levy, Bob Maes and Philippe Dehoux.

Nicolas Jullien, global head of fixed income and head of high yield and credit arbitrage at Candriam, said: “Today’s fixed income markets present a broader opportunity set, driven by greater interest rate dispersion, divergent monetary policies and valuation differences across regions and sectors.

“In this environment, investors need strategies that can adapt quickly to changing market conditions and capture opportunities on both sides of the market.

“Candriam Bonds Global Alpha strategy is designed to do just that,” he concluded.
