At Dart, Butcher will be responsible for investment research, portfolio management, and building relationships with intermediaries.
Butcher left Brewin late last year after a nine-year spell to take a short break from the industry.
Privately owned and managed by its two majority shareholders, chief executive Richard Whitehead and director Matthew Wille, London-based Dart Capital manages portfolios ranging from £200,000 to £20m.
