BNP Paribas Asset Management has hired Maya Bhandari from Columbia Threadneedle as its global head of multi-asset.

Based in London, Bhandari has been tasked with developing BNPP AM’s multi-asset business and strengthening the investment process. She will also focus on the continued integration of ESG factors into its multi-asset range and contribute to BNPP AM’s thought leadership and fundamental research.

At Columbia Threadneedle she was executive director of the multi-asset portfolio business where she managed and co-managed a range of diversified growth, multi-asset income and institutional mandates, including the Luxembourg version of the Threadneedle Euro Dynamic Real Return fund.

Prior to joining Columbia Threadneedle in 2014, she was a director of global macro and asset allocation at Citigroup.

BNPP AM CIO of multi-asset and quantitative solutions Denis Panel said: “Maya is a well-recognised multi-asset portfolio manager, and brings a wealth of expertise in cross asset investing, with a clear and consistent approach that has delivered strong returns to investors across a range of strategies and periods.

“She has a positive approach to thought leadership, team management and diversity & inclusion, which is an important cultural fit, as well as to ESG, which will enable its further integration within our portfolios.

“I have every confidence that Maya will be instrumental in accelerating the growth of our multi-asset activity and I look forward to working with her.”
