Noel Butwell, chief executive officer of Aberdeen Adviser, is to step down from the role and leave Aberdeen in the coming months.
Having joined Aberdeen in 2003, Butwell became CEO of the Aberdeen Adviser when it was established as a separate business in 2019.
According to Aberdeen, the process to appoint a successor is ‘advanced’ and they will provide an update shortly. Butwell will continue to lead the business until the handover is complete.

“Having spent more than two decades helping the business grow and adapt for the next generation, I have decided now is the right time to move on,” said Butwell.
“I was involved when we first launched our Wrap platform 20 years ago,” he added. “Building and growing to a market-leading position was incredibly exciting.
“Over that time, consumer needs and expectations have evolved rapidly, the IFA market is consolidating, and we continue to experience a profound shift in technology as it plays an ever-bigger part in what we do.”

“Since I started working with Noel, I have seen him and his team overhaul our platform technology, improve service levels, strengthen our proposition and put the business on a more competitive footing,” said Jason Windsor, chief executive of the Aberdeen Group.
“That work has been critical – giving us the platform we need to compete and grow,” he added. “We have a great team in Adviser, and as we look ahead to a new phase for the business, we are well placed to grasp the significant opportunities in front of us.”
