Goldman Sachs AM’s Global Strategic Income Bond Portfolio has been opened up to UK investors.

The fund invests in a “full spectrum” of fixed income and currency markets, according to GSAM; it was first launched in the US in June 2010 and has since amassed more than $1.9bn in assets.

The portfolio will be managed by GSAM’s global fixed income team, which is headed by managing director Jason Singer.

“The world of fixed income is changing rapidly. It seems that many investors have traditionally been focused on interest rates in their local markets, but we now live in a truly global economy where the risks and opportunities cut across borders and sectors. Among the forces that shape fixed income markets today are sovereign risk, global fiscal imbalances, and concerns about inflation and interest rates,” said Singer.

“The strategy that we are now making available in the UK allows the portfolio management team to flexibly adjust allocations in response to the multitude of challenges that investors face.”
