The firm, which is part of Old Mutual Wealth, has appointed James Millard as director of investments to lead the team. Millard was previously director of investments at Old Mutual Global Investors.
Millard’s new team will initially work on the Select range, which is due to launch in the UK next year. The range currently has eight asset managers lined up to run mandates – Aberdeen, Blackrock, BNY Mellon, Fidelity, Henderson, JP Morgan, Schroders and Threadneedle.
The new team’s main role will be managing and creating new investment solutions for the Skandia businesses in the UK and internationally. It will also hold investment oversight of the external fund ranges on Skandia’s platforms, as well as managing the commercial aspects of those relationships with fund group partners.
Millard will take up his new role on 1 January 2013 and report to Hylton Donnelly, commercial director of Skandia. Dean Bowden will be head of investment solutions in the new team, while Ryan Hughes has been appointed portfolio manager.
Julian Ide, chief executive of Old Mutual Global Investors, said: “As director of investment for Old Mutual Global Investors, James oversaw the integration of our investment function and played a significant role in helping to shape our investment capability strategy for the future.
“I am delighted that James will be playing a key role in Skandia and I look forward to continuing to work closely with him.”
