Elva Capital will launch with a Luxembourg UCITS Pan-European, long only Equity fund, with pending approval from the FCA and CSSF.
Commenting on the remit of the fund, Bendahan said, “There are still in my view tremendous investment opportunities in European equity markets.”
“After more than 15 years managing money, I am very excited at the prospect of starting an independent asset management company,” he added.
He was managing €2.5bn (£1.99bn) in European equities while at Swiss banking group SYZ & Co.
Meanwhile SYZ & Co has hired a former Franklin Templeton duo to manage its European equities area.
Michael Clements is taking over as head of European equities and head up the London-based team of fund managers and analysts and will manage the OYSTER European Opportunities, European Selection and Continental European Selection Funds.
Joining him in the new role is Claire Manson, who will be taking over the management of the OYSTER European Mid and Small Cap fund.
“Michael Clements and Eric Bendahan have a very similar management style and full continuity is ensured throughout the transition. For investors it is therefore very positive news,” the group said.
