Changes at BlackRock as Turnill promoted

BlackRock's head of global equities, Richard Turnill has been promoted to chief investment strategist for its newly-created Alpha Strategies Group, prompting a reshuffle on his funds.

From 1 January, James Bristow, currently managing director and senior portfolio manager will become the new head of global equities and take on Turnill’s Global Equity Fund.

He will also work with lead portfolio manager Stuart Reeve on Global Income Fund, alongside another manager Andrew Wheatley-Hubbard who has also been appointed as an extra hand on this vehicle and the BGF Global Equity Income Fund.

BlackRock has also recruited Teun Draaisma from TT International as a macro strategist, taking on Turnill’s research responsibilities.

In his new role, Turnill will be responsible for developing strategic plans around the Alpha Strategies product range. The role will encompass all areas of the business including fundamental equity, fixed income and scientific active equity. He will report to Quintin Price, head of Alpha Strategies Group.

Although Turnill will relinquish his portfolio responsibilities in January, he will continue to act as an adviser to the funds until September 2013 to ensure a seamless transition.
