Scammell joins the team as a senior sovereign bond fund manager, sitting within Santander’s European fixed income team.
He has more than 20 years’ experience working in the investment management sector and has held several senior roles during this time, most recently at Schroders where he was head of UK interest rate strategies.
Commenting on the announcement, Adam Cordery, head of European fixed income at Santander Asset Management, said: “We are delighted that David has joined us, and he will be a crucial addition to Santander Asset Management’s team. At Santander, Scammell will work with the European fixed income team across the product range and take a leading role in the decision-making process for the firm’s Euro and Sterling interest rate and country investments.
He will report to Azim Meghji on the UK fixed income desk where he will manage the Santander Asset Management Government Bond Fund.
